Meet the Flock

Our flock is split into two; the young ewes up to 5 or 6 years old are kept purebred and mated with pedigree Ryeland tups (rams).

Female or 'gimmer' lambs are kept for breeding and the very best tup lambs are also kept to be sold as  pedigree

The 'other ' half of our  flock is made up of  various ewes cross-bred with a Ryeland Ram.

It is only the male  lambs that are reared for meat, for the female makes an excellent mother and they are sold to pet homes,  to mow grass and live along side horses to graze out the weeds, or the pedigrees for breeding.

We name all our lambs in accordance with Ryeland Flock Book requirements. Each year is allocated a letter and the registered lambs names start with the year letter eg. 2007 was k and our Ryeland lambs were called Keanue, kane, Kali etc. Our breeding Ewes (Dams) and Rams (Sires) are registered with the Ryeland Flock Book and we have their full blood line history.
